July 1st saw the annual Reign of Pain 6 hour XC at Camp Tuscazoar… this involves (typically) heat, humidity, ripped sidewalls, broken derailleur hangers, slip & slides and plenty of beer. Ohio MTB done right, if you ask us. And by “right” we mean “weird.”

This event raises funds for the trail complex at Tusky, a former Boy Scout Camp that is now privately maintained by the Tuscazoar Trail Foundation. It’s estimated that this year’s Reign raised $8,000. That’s phenomenal. Because Ohio MTB’ers are that awesome.

Team Mandalore fielded 2 relay teams, both in mens open. Tommy & Tyler wore pink, Duncan & Matthew came as Darkside Mandos. Our teams completed 4 laps total each, but that wasn’t enough for a podium. The fastest guys around here do the grueling 11 mile course 7 times… that’s like, 40 minute laps. You have to be really good. Or really crazy. Probably a bit of both. No unscheduled arial detours this year of our team, but Mau tore a tyre pretty bad and had to hike part of the way back on his opening lap. Luckily, we were able to secure a tube and some duct tape, we’re just hoping he didn’t take that shambles of a repair to the downhill ride on Sunday. Also, Mau, if you’re reading this, sorry Rae didn’t check your treads and let you put that tyre on backwards. Just think of it as a little extra traction for now. And remember to remount that shit before NOMBS 3 or you’re gonna get lapped at Big Creek.

We also got a photo dump up on google drive, including ALL the podiums. Give a look-see and maybe you’ll find a pic of yourself suffering, courtesy of Rae: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1f9vycruJj2zlkuc7UfWocSXf1FinH5iT?usp=drive_link

Thanks so much to 331 Racing, Knobby Side Down and the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation for another great year and for the slip n slide prizes from Lockport Brewery. Y’all made our Saturday Stokeful!

Next week, we’ll be out at Big Creek Park in Chardon, racing the third event in the Northern Ohio Mountain Bike Series. See ya then, dirt buddies!
